This is one species we have recorded as Most Likely Species, as it can be difficult to tell P. dispar from other members of the same genus. Not a species we have seen very often.

The Latin and English name mean different things. The name Running Crab Spider comes from its rather crab like circular appearance and it hunts by chasing prey rather than constructing a web. The Latin name dispar relates to the ‘disparity’ between the two sexes with the male looking completely different to the female pictured above.
