Large Rose Sawfly – Arge pagana

Our garden, along with a good number of others in the street, has as you would expect a significant amount of roses of numerous varieties present. Unsurprisingly therefore every year we find good numbers of A.pagana flitting about looking for rose stems onto which they can deposit their eggs.

Although we have yet to record the larval stage in our garden we often see adults running across / flying around our rose bushes, as shown in the video below.
