The true flies, those with two wings (one pair). A diverse group in gardens, including the bottle flies, hoverflies and crane-flies, plus many other forms.

Order: Hemiptera

The true bugs, including pond skaters, shield bugs and aphids.

Order: Hymenoptera

A large and interesting group to study. The Sawflies, Ants, Wasps and Bees.

Order: Lepidoptera

The most numerous order of life recorded in the garden, mainly due to using a moth trap. Moths and Butterflies.

Order: Neuroptera

The so called Net-winged insects. Lacewings in our garden.

Order: Odonata

The dragonflies and damselflies.

Order: Orthoptera

Grass hoppers and Crickets. But poorly represented so far in our garden.
