The animals with exoskeletons, paired jointed limbs (of varying number) and a segmented body. In gardens this includes insects, spiders and their allies, crustaceans and other less obvious creatures. The animals that at some stage in their life cycles have a notochord (which in some animals develops into the spine). In gardens this includes the birds, mammals, amphibians and for us on one occasion a reptile.
The slugs and snails.
